Graduate Programs
The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health offers graduate study and research leading to a Master of Science
and Doctor of Philosophy in four major areas with further specialization within each area:
Specialization
- Biobehavioral Kinesiology studies the impact of sport and physical activity on individuals.
- Community Health and Rehabilitation examines issues such as cancer epidemiology, cultural aspects of disability and
rehabilitation, health education, health policy and health behavior.
- Cultural, Pedagogical, and Interpretive Kinesiology examine the interaction between physical activity and the
individual from cultural, sociological and pedagogical perspectives.
- Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training: Exercise Physiology studies work output, energy transfer, and movement
efficiency. Athletic Training focuses on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries incurred in physical
activity and sport
The Department also offers a Master of Public Health degree. The MPH program provides education and training in the core
competencies of public health and offers a concentration in Health Behavior and Promotion.
