David Buchner Named to 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Committee

Dr. David Buchner, Shahid and Ann Carlson Khan Professor in Applied Health Sciences within the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, has been named to the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Committee by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
 
Dr. Buchner’s research focuses on physical activity’s role in healthy aging, and particularly in the prevention of fall injuries. He completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas and was a fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Washington, where he received his MPH degree and training in geriatric medicine. Before joining the College of Applied Health Sciences at Illinois, Dr. Buchner was Chief of the Physical Activity and Health Branch of the Centers for Disease Control.
